Boulder City By-Pass

WBS, as a subcontractor to Stantec, is in the process of designing the erosion control and revegetation components of this 13 mile long project that ties in with Highway 95 west of Boulder City, Nevada, and Highway 93 west of Lake Mead. Prior to initiating design work on this design/build project with Stantec and Las Vegas Paving, WBS completed extensive soil, substrate, and vegetation mapping; including determination of percent cover by soil, gravel, rock, litter, and vegetation. Meeting performance criteria according to language in the Nevada General Construction Permit is tricky on this project due to low vegetative cover, low precipitation, and slow growth by dominant species. The project, overseen by the RTC (owner) has multiple stakeholders. In 2015 WBS completed preliminary specifications for material salvage and revegetation.
